The new Cyber Security Centre which will provide a centre of expertise to manage cyber security and digital forensics was opened by Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage. He has a strong interest through his role as a Board member of the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "One of the biggest threats in the United Kingdom at the moment is cyber attacks - so cyber security is a huge part of the future security of the UK. These students will be developing the skills that we actually need to help protect what is happening across the nation today. We are totally reliant on technology and anything that can disrupt our access to it, could have a major impact on our economy and way of life."
The Cyber Centre, part of the University of Hertfordshire, is already working closely with police forces and government agencies, and commercial organisations. Together they are developing the essential knowledge and skills, which will form part of a core curriculum in related technology subjects. Preparing students with the skills they need, to help keep us safe."
